This is an original Soviet safety poster from 1986, published by Energoatomizdat in Moscow. The striking design features a bold graphic of a grinning skull integrated into the Cyrillic word for “poison” (ЯД), with the word “Methanol” printed above the glass. The bright orange and deep purple colors make a vivid visual warning against the dangers of methanol exposure and accidental ingestion.

The poster measures approximately 22.5 by 16.75 inches (57 by 42.5 cm). It has a small rip on the back, light edge wear, and pinholes from past hanging, but overall retains excellent color and display strength. This piece was part of the Soviet Union’s workplace safety campaign, combining bold modernist graphics with direct health warnings for industrial workers.

This is a powerful and rare example of Cold War–era Soviet visual culture, blending elements of propaganda, graphic design, and public health education. It would make a standout addition to collections of Soviet posters, industrial history, or mid-1980s graphic art.
